Internet only plans do not require a phone line.  Internet only plans require Inside Wire Maintenance and MyHome WI-FI.  MyHome WI-FI is required for all bundles. The unlimited plan is for voice calls terminating within the continental U.S. (excludes Hawaii & Alaska) only. Calls not included in the Unlimited packages will be billed at tariff rates. Internet only plans require a telelphone line. Installation does not include inside wiring or telephone jacks. Fiber does not keep your phone on when the power is out. A battery backup will supply power for a period of time. Additional battery back-ups are available for purchase. Additional base unit(8hr) is $110.94, Flex Battery (4hr) is $53.47/ea. Speeds listed are maximum attainable download and upload speeds and are best effort delivered through a wired connection to the customer premise. Actual speeds may vary depending upon a variety of factors, many of which are related to the environment at the customer premise and the customer owned devices connecting to the broadband service such as wireless, device capabilities, number of devices and interferences all impact internet speed connections.

Email Scams

Email provides us a convenient and powerful communications tool. Unfortunately, it also provides scammers and other malicious individuals an easy means for luring potential victims. The scams they attempt run from bogus business opportunities to phishing schemes using a combination of email and bogus web sites to trick victims into divulging sensitive information. To protect yourself from these scams, you should understand what they are, what they look like, how they work, and what you can do to avoid them.

Here are some recent scams:

• If you have received an email that looks like it comes from us and states "Your email account has almost exceeded its limit and that they may not be able to send or receive messages at any time from now on. It is asking them to “click” on the link and renew their account." This is a SCAM.

• Police Warn of New 'Line-Trapping Technology' Being Used to Scam People Over the Phone: A new piece of sophisticated technology is being used by fraudsters to scam unsuspecting people over the phone. Police said a woman in the York Region received a call earlier this month and was told by the scammers she had been a victim of identity theft. Police said the woman was directed to call police and confirm the information. The victim called authorities and believed she had spoken to an officer. Through the investigation it was revealed that the suspects used new line-trapping technology to remain connected to her phone line when she tried to call police.  The technology used by the scammers reconnected her phone line to them instead of the authorities. Police said the woman lost a quantity of cash and the suspects obtained her personal information. Police are reminding citizens to be cautious with any calls or e-mails seeking personal information. "If a situation feels suspicious, trust your instincts,"  police said in a news release on Thursday. "If you wish to confirm a call you receive do so on a delayed time line. Evidence suggests that the line-trapping technology being utilized has a time limit of several minutes." Police said to call on another line if you are suspicious of being hacked.
• Phone Scam claiming to be paypal: If you receive a call from 786-408-1679 stating they are from paypal, it is a scam.

• COVID-19 Scams: Criminals are opportunists. They will often capitalize on major news events to create scams to take advantage of unsuspecting consumers. The ongoing coronavirus pandemic is a perfect example. The fear evoked by the coronavirus creates the perfect opportunity for criminals to prey upon individuals with phishing, social engineering scams and more.
• Phone scams: If you receive a call from 1-877-376-3470 claiming to be Amazon and asking you to log into your computer so they could issue them a refund on a package they could not ship.
• Email Scam: If you receive an email from RTMC with no subject line, saying that "This email is to confirm our recent service change. To increase the level of security for our customers' email accounts, RTMC mail is implementing a new email password policy for protection. Please log in to HERE for an update. Upgrade will be effective when next you log in." This is a SCAM, DO NOT CLICK THE LINK.
• If you received an email from RTMC with the Subject Line: Past Invoice, saying "Attached please find the ACH transfer form. Please let me know if you have any questions. A printer friendly attachment is now included with each email. Click on the attachment to open or save the printer version of your report. Thank you, Billing." This is a SCAM.

Less WI-FI interferences:

WI-FI interferences can cause slower performance from your WI-FI network. Our routers are multi band to eliminate WI-FI interferences. 2.4GHz  offers coverage at further distances. It should be used for low bandwidth activities like browsing the internet.  5GHz provides less coverage but it transmits data at faster speeds. It is best suited for high-bandwidth devices or activities like gaming and streaming TV.

Best for Gaming & Streaming:

These routers are built to handle higher bandwidths which are great for gaming and streaming.

Long Range Capability:

Do you have an outbuilding or a shop that would like WI-FI or a hardwired connection (or both), then as long as the power to outbuilding is fed from the home meter base we can plug in a Powerline Adapter and you will get access to your WI-FI connection.
